Lotus Moves Class Descriptions
Asake Moves: Asake (Ah-Sha-Kay) is a Yoruba word that means to be to be loved and truly admired. Asake Moves stems from dance styles such as Caribbean, West African, and Belly dance. This class will teach you how to develop a love for movement, a respect for fluidity, and encourage you to admire the way your body moves. Classes will vary from up-tempo to slower and more sensual choreography.
Enerpilates: EnerPilates is more than a fitness fusion class! You can expect changes not only in your body, but your mind will gently come into alignment with who you would like to be & you will dive more profoundly right smack dab into actively making positive changes happen! All done with mindfulness & awareness of the breath/mind/body connection, among the many modalities we will utilize are: body sculpting, plyometrics, yoga, pilates, ballet, martial arts/kickboxing, circuit training, pole dance conditioning, weighted hula hoop. Hip Hop for Healing: Hip Hop is a style of dance that originated from a way of living, a culture, and it involves music that is rhythmic, energetic, and expressive. This was a tool that folk people used in the past and is still being used for self-expression. The Hip Hop dance style is great for all ages, races, and cultures. What is unique about Hip Hop is its freedom of movement which greatly benefits the dancer, who can add his or her own personality and emotions within the choreography.
Zumba: This class fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms & easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away! Achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage & captivate for life! POLE FITNESS CLASSES
Fundamentals (45 min): Focuses on fundamental positions and movements. Heavy focus on shoulder stability and core, body alignment, and stability. This class generally offers a slower practice with an emphasis on floor work, transitional moves and one to two spins. Appropriate for beginners, those who are new to working with a teacher, and intermediate students who would like to spend more time on individual poses. ALL LEVELS
Foundation 1 (1:15): Teaches the principles of alignment, form, flexibility, strength & stability, developing mindfulness AND BODY AWARENESS. Focus on form and technique in floor work, transitional moves and basic spins building into more advanced transitions and spins. Emphasis on conditioning and strength building. ALL LEVELS
Foundation 1+ (1:15): This class takes the principles from Pole Foundation and builds from there. You will continue to gain lower body strength and stability while working more into shoulder stability and extension of spine. This class focuses on the ability to create combination moves with spins and transitions, moving towards more challenging poses such as climbing, preps for holds and inversions, headstands and handstands. Focus on fluidity and flow between movements. BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE
Foundation 2 (1:15): This class builds on the skills learned in Pole Foundation, using more challenging poses to take learning to a more advanced level. Use lower body strength and core stability to develop thoracic extension working on inversions, layouts, holds and spins, climbs and fluidity between floor and aerial work. INTERMEDIATE to ADVANCED
Pole Yoga (1:15): This class utilizes the strength and stability of yoga postures to build, tone, and condition muscle groups for pole. Learn sustainable practices that will help increase flexibility, range of motion, and power, while developing grace, poise, and focus. ALL LEVELS
Open Pole: Pole open to all members to practice and experiment with new moves. Group warm-up, cool-down, and spotting for inverts and climbs.
