Class Descriptions

Yoga is a skill and the benefits accumulate over a period of time with regular practice. Attendance at least once a week is needed to properly learn the skill of yoga, but you may attend as many times a week as your schedule allows!

EnerPilates - Beginner/All levels – 60 min – A low impact class that conditions, sculpts and strengthens the body, mind, & heart. This class integrates the mind/body traditions of Yoga and Pilates, using light hand weights and fit balls to add to strengthening benefits. Each EnerPilates class will develop strength and stability in the following areas: upper body, lower body, core.

Meditation – Beginner/All levels – 30 min – An introduction to the practice of meditation that focuses on building greater concentration and improving the ability to handle stress. Learn a variety of techniques and practices in a way that brings more mindfulness into daily life. The ability to meditate is what gives high achievers in all fields that mental “edge.” Develop a strong, relaxed mind and watch how the benefits continue to grow over time.

Posture and Breath Clinic - Recommended for everyone practicing yoga for one year or less. This informative in-depth study of postural alignment points, breathing and pranayama is an excellent adjunct to all yoga students' practice to better understand the purpose, benefits, indications, and contraindications of asana and breath practice. Each student will also gain a more in-depth understanding of the history and meaning of yoga along with the language of yoga.

Power Yoga Foundation – Intermediate – 75 min – A strong class that enables the student to utilize the structure of precision and technique fused with a very fluid, more organic practice of vinyasa. This practice introduces intermediate-level yoga poses and sequences to evolve the student’s ability to blend movement with breath and further develop the capacity of focus and concentration. Participants can expect greater muscle definition, core strength and intelligence, and cardiovascular development, ultimately leading toward greater awareness, fluidity, power and concentration in sadhana (practice) and in life.

Shanti Rasa Flow - All levels – 60 min – A conscious cultivation of inner balance, equilibrium, wisdom, and serenity that is the fruit of living yoga. Shanti means “peace,” and this practice is meditation in motion, focusing primarily on following the breath. Students are guided through the practice with reminders of alignment and form but with emphasis on staying present and aware of the breath. The structure and approach of this class allow the nervous system to unwind. This type of practice cultivates the ability to create an oasis amidst a busy life.

Sringara Rasa Flow - All levels – 60 min – A mindful, therapeutic approach with a focus on breath and movement through vinyasa. Sringara refers to the ability to balance opposites. Students are guided through the practice with reminders of alignment and form but with emphasis on following the breath to find stillness in dynamic movement. In practice and in life, sringara rasa can be the most satisfying rasa of all as we open to experiencing life in its fullness.

Yoga Foundation - Beginner/All levels – 90 min – This class teaches the principles of alignment, form, flexibility, strength and stability; developing mindfulness; and yogic breathing. Yoga is a skill which teaches healthy biomechanics of movement that will improve and maintain good health for years to come. The process of learning the poses stabilizes and brings flexibility to the spine and joints of the body. The method of breathing builds respiratory efficiency and creates balance in the nervous and endocrine systems.

Yoga Foundation 2 – Intermediate Beginner/All levels – 60 min – This class builds on the skills learned in Yoga Foundation, using more challenging poses to take learning to a more advanced level. Use lower body strength and stability to develop thoracic extension, and deepen focus and self-awareness within practice and in life.

Yoga Fundamentals - Beginner/All levels – 60 min – Focus on fundamental alignment points, basic poses and sun salutations. This class generally offers a slower practice with an emphasis on 2-3 poses each week including use of props and time to ask questions. Appropriate for yoga beginners, those who are new to working with a teacher, and intermediate students who would like to spend more time on individual poses.

Yoga Stability - Beginner/All levels – 90 min – This class offers similar format and benefits to those gained in Yoga Foundation class, with additional emphasis on core strengthening, stability, and balance. Balance and stability are both a physical and a mental practice, and this class addresses both mind and body to bring the student a greater sense of inner stillness and power.

Yoga Rasa Introductory Orientation – New Students – 60 min – Join us for a free introduction to yoga and an orientation of Yoga Rasa. This class will familiarize you with the benefits and purpose of yoga, explain how our studio works, address ways to fit yoga into your schedule and lifestyle, and answer frequently asked questions about yoga. This is an informational session (not a yoga class) and is a great start to beginning a yoga practice. However, please feel free to begin with other beginner or all level classes at any time. RSVP is required for this class, as it is held on an as-requested basis.
